Our Guiding Narrative

Everybody lives within a story of some kind. Perhaps it’s the story of secularism, humanism, or one of the several world religions. At Epiphany we live within the story of the God of the Bible and the seasons of God’s work that are observed in the Church-year calendar. These seasons illustrate the story that gives order and shape to our lives:

Advent longs for and anticipates the coming of Jesus to rescue the fallen world. Christmas announces and celebrates his arrival. Epiphany reveals Jesus as Savior for all people. Lent takes the journey of surrender as it travels with Jesus to his death. Holy Week recounts his saving work; Easter proclaims and celebrates his resurrection; and Pentecost celebrates the birth of the Church and God’s empowering presence coming to reside with God’s people (adapted from Robert Webber’s Worship Old and New).
