Serving in Charlottesville & Outside the US

Compassionate action

Orienting our lives around Jesus means that we take seriously his heart for all people and his commandment to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. Out of our desire to express his heart, we serve in a number of compassionate action initiatives locally and outside the US (usually on a monthly basis locally).

Past actions have included serving at the Salvation Army soup kitchen; serving at the PACEM shelter for the homeless; distributing food baskets for Thanksgiving; giving gift cards and gift boxes at Christmas; sending supplies to our troops in Iraq and an orphanage in Ukraine; and collecting supplies for a local food bank.

Check the update section on the home page to see how we’re serving in the weeks ahead, including collecting tents and sleeping bags for the homeless (on Easter Sunday); working with Under One Sky at their upcoming concert; and serving with orphans in Latvia this summer.
